Back in the summer of 1996 when I was searching
for a '64 Rampside to buy, Bob Coffin told me about a
nice specimen in Tempe, AZ at Larry's Corvair Storage. (Bob lives in Mesa.) It just so happens that my
uncle, Tom Sullivan, lives in the
area as well (Chandler).Although he wasn't too sure exactly what a Rampside was (or,
more importantly, why I would want one!), he graciously agreed to go have a look-see
with Bob and to take some pictures.
This truck was in quite good shape, actually. There
was some of the usual ramp trouble
(circled in the 4th picture) but overall the truck looks very solid.
Two of the pictures show Bob expertly checking over the rig, after which he gave it a
"thumbs up".
I ended up not buying this rig because I wasn't sure I wanted to figure out how to
transport it home to Seattle, and also because I found a truck in my
area (not in nearly as good condition though).
The truck was sold to Ray Grady of Phoenix, AZ.
I am currently trying to get in touch with Ray to get an update.
