Original Build Tag Found
Rich checked the seats and voila, there it was, relatively undisturbed, still glued to to the left frame member of the driver's seat back! The picture above is shows most of the tag at actual size. A few weeks after finding the tag, Rich looked at the photos he took while taking apart the seat and noticed that part of the tag was stuck to the vinyl! Unfortunately, the part stuck to the vinyl seems to have been lost. Looking at the two photos together, it appears that the numbers on the lost fragment (top left in photo below) were on the first line of the tag fragment that remains.
One other thing regarding tags attached to the seats: There was also a small orange tag attached to the underside of the driver's seat. One side is stamped "Nov 4 1965" and the other side has an unrecognized sequence of letters and numbers beginning with "A-X". Rad Davis has a page featuring the build sheet from Guus de Haan's 1965 U.S. Corsa turbo convertible (built in Willow Run, MI). Check out his page for comparison purposes--the U.S. build sheet is much larger and "official-looking" than the simple Canadian build tag. |

I am amazed that
the tag still existed intact after all these years, espcially since the seats had
previously been stripped and recovered with a non-factory vinyl upholstery. As I mentioned
on the previous page, Ronnie Stensson (who lives in Sweden) told me that the build tags
often survive inside one of the front seat backs.
Putting the two halves of the tag together, I can barely make out that the
red lettering at the top left reads "<something> <something> Line
Schedule Tag". In the first row of numbers, the meaning of the first item (255) is
not known. The second (10767) is of course the model, Corsa convertible. The third (795)
is trim color, fourth (261459) is body number, 5th - 11th are option codes, and the 12th
