Forest Servant
Jerry Goffe of Albuquerque, NM is the owner of this '62 Loadside. His friend Mark Domzalski visited Jerry and the truck in March, 2003 and had the following to report:
- Originally a U.S. Forest Service Truck painted "monkey
puke green" (Jerry's description)
- Now is painted silver with a burgundy belt
- Also now has a reupholstered interior
- Originally powered by an 80 HP engine with PowerGlide
transmission and 3.89:1 differential
- Now powered by a 110 HP engine
- Original T-3 headlamps still installed and functional
- Factory installed (per gov't. contract) D6-52 Auxiliary
Brake/Signal Lights (front now removed)
- Similar to 985978 in the 1964 Accessory Installation Manual (~3-1/2" dia. in the panels under the stock tail lights)
Joe VonDerHaar's truck, built just three after this truck, appears to be equipped very similarly, as does Robert Gold's truck, built less than 100 trucks earlier, and Jeff Gauldin's truck, built about 125 trucks before Joe's.
