1962 Loadside Registry369 Loadsides were built in model year 1962, the final year of production. The '62 Loadside is the least-produced of all Corvair models. The trucks were built in both Flint, MI and St. Louis, MO. Chevy production information furnished by Dave Newell makes it possible to tell which month a given Loadside was built. As of August 17, 2007, there are 15 1962 Loadsides in this registry: 3 built in Flint and 11 built in St. Louis. Decoding a Loadside VINDecoding a Loadside VIN is very straightforward. For example, in this sample VIN:
It is possible for vehicles to differ by only the letter ("S" or "F"), since numbering started at 100000 at both plants. However, with four models being produced, the number of such near-duplicates is likely to be fairly low. Using the RegistryIn the tables below:
Flint, MI Production
St. Louis, MO Production
As of 01/02/2003, I am aware of six other '62 Loadsides and have contacted the owners. I hope to hear from them soon! If you're wondering about how Loadsides could be equipped, you can browse information on '62 FC standard equipment, tires, options, prices, and colors. Several Loadsides were used by the military and 3 of those in the registry to date have a military heritage. If you have any information about '62 Loadsides, contact me via email. Thanks! |
